Butterfly Quilled Brooch

Hi Friends...
I made this brooch especially for my best friend's birthday and joined on her birthday challenge last week. 
Although not be one of the winners I hope she loves this....lol...:)

    What a gorgeous brooch! I love the shadings on the butterfly! May I ask if you first quilled it and then applied the darker shades of pink?
